Riverhawks take second place

The UCC Riverhawks narrowly lost the NWAACC championship game Tuesday night to the Columbia Basin Hawks.

After taking an early lead, the Riverhawks lost 86-74. It was the first finals appearance for UCC since 2000. Asia Smith led the Riverhawks with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ashli Payne scored 14 points.

Two Riverhawks, Kyndal Charleston and Asia Smith, were named to the All Tournament First Team.

March 1
UCC 88, Centralia 50

Leilani Morris shot 73 percent from the field, pacing the Riverhawks with 20 points. Kyndal Charleston chipped in another 19. Ashli Payne tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

March 2
UCC 81, Walla Walla 72

Guard Kyndal Charleston led the Riverhawks with 21 points on 5/10 shooting from downtown. Ashli Payne had 11 points and 10 boards for the lone double-double for UCC.

March 3
UCC 85, Blue Mountain 68

Kyndal Charlston had 25 points for UCC. Asia Smith scored 15 points and came down with 19 rebounds.
