Parking

Umpqua Community College provides more than 1,000 parking spaces conveniently located near all the campus buildings. Of these, about 130 are assigned to college faculty and staff. Assigned spaces are marked by a white curb and a "faculty and staff" sign. Students are free to park in any of the unassigned parking spaces.

Yellow areas are considered restricted lanes and zones.

Visitor Parking — Areas that are clearly marked Visitor Parking are reserved for non-student activities. However, visitors to the college may park in any unassigned parking area.

Disabled Person Parking — Special stickers are required for parking in clearly marked Disabled Parking spaces. These stickers are issued at the Oregon Division of Motor Vehicles.

Traffic citations will be issued for improperly parked vehicles. Any vehicle left standing unattended for more than 72 consecutive hours will be deemed abandoned.

Use of Student Social Security Number

OAR 581-41-290 authorizes Umpqua Community College to ask you to provide your social security number. The number will be used by the college for reporting, research, and record-keeping. Your number will also be provided by the college to Oregon Community College Unified Reporting System (OCCURS), which is a group made up of all community colleges in Oregon, the State Office of Community College Services and the Oregon Community College Association. OCCURS gathers information about students and programs to meet state and federal reporting requirements. It also helps colleges plan, research, and develop programs. This information helps the colleges to support the progress of students and their success in the workplace and other education programs.
OCCURS or the college may provide your social security number to the following agencies or match it records from the following systems:

• State and private colleges, universities, and vocational schools to find out how many community college students go on with their education and whether their community college coursework is a good basis for further education.
• The Shared Information System, which gathers information to help state and local agencies plan education and training services to help Oregon citizens get the best jobs available.
• The Office of Professional Technical Education Management Information System, to provide reports to the state and federal governments. The information is used to learn about education, training, and job market trends for planning, research, and program improvement. Funding for community colleges is based on this information.
• The Oregon Department of Revenue and collection agencies only for purposes of processing debits and only if credit is extended to you by the college.
• The American College Testing Service, if you take the ASSET placement tests, for educational research purposes.
• The Internal Revenue Service for the Hope Scholarship eligibility purposes. Your number will be used only for the purposes listed above. State and federal law protects the privacy of your records.

Alcohol/Drug Free Environment

UCC is committed to maintaining an effective learning environment free from the devitalizing influences of alcohol and drug abuse. The unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees on college property or as a part of any of its activities is strictly prohibited. UCC will impose disciplinary sanctions on students and employees (consistent with local, State and Federal law), up to and including expulsion or termination of employment and referral for prosecution for violations of college policies. Information about applicable legal sanctions, description of health risks, and resources for treatment is made available for all employees through the college personnel department (541)440-4626 and for all students through the counseling department (541)440-4610.

Student Rights

Every student has a right to conditions which allow pursuit of education. Any student with a grievance concerning college policy, personnel, or facilities has the right to be heard promptly. The Umpqua Community College Student Rights are outlined in the UCC catalog.

Umpqua complies with all state and federal requirements regarding the confidentiality of student records. In general, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1968 prohibits us from releasing information to anyone other than the identified student without the written release of that student.
