Environmental science is the study of the interactions among the physical, chemical and biological components of the environment. At UCC, you can earn a transfer degree that can be applied in the following areas:

• Agriculture
• Environmental Science

Employment Outlook:
Natural resources and environmental science programs provide a wide variety of employment opportunities. Traditionally strong areas of employment in natural resources include government agencies, academic research and development, and environmental firms that provide contracted services to government and industry. Career paths include management of fisheries, wildlife, timber, soils and other natural resources, threatened and endangered species conservation, ecological restoration, environmental journalism, environmental law, environmental economics, environmental engineering, and private consulting. In addition, there is a strong need for secondary and post-secondary educators with training in these areas.

The natural resoucrces and environmental science curriculum is designed so that students may complete one or two years of study depending on their level of preparation before transferring to a four-year institution. Because course requirements vary at each four-year institution, it is recommended that interested students work closely with an advisor to plan their program.

Once enrolled in this program, you can expect to take courses in some of the following subjects:

• General Biology
• Principles of Biology
• Microbiology
• Botany
• And other subject areas depending on chosen discipline.
