KISS ME, KATE

Book by Bella and Samuel Spewack

Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter

Directed by Troy Pennington

UCC Campus, Jacoby Auditorium

When you combine Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” with the legendary Cole Porter’s music and lyrics, we get KISS ME, KATE — a raucous musical comedy that has been considered one of Broadway’s dearest treasures. Set in Baltimore, Maryland, this musical follows director and actor Fred Graham who is days away from opening his new musical based on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew". Fred has cast his difficult to work with ex-wife, Lilli Vanessi, and himself as the warring stars Katherine and Petruchio in order to capitalize on the chemistry they once had to bring his career back to its former glory. As you can probably guess, things don't go very well. Throw in a couple of complicated love triangles, massive egos, and two of the savviest gangsters you'll ever see on stage, this play-within-a-play is a farcical delight. Musical numbers include Why Can’t You Behave, So In Love, Wunderbar, Tom, Dick or Harry, Too Darn Hot, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, I Hate Men, Always True to You (In My Fashion) and Another Op’nin’, Another Show. KISS ME, KATE is fun, melodious, sophisticated, and pure entertainment from lights up to the final curtain.

SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE!

Music and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George Newall, and Tom Yohe

Directed by Christina Allaback

UCC Campus, Centerstage Theatre

A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage in Schoolhouse Rock Live! The Emmy Award-winning 1970's Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, and more through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, it’s lighting up stages everywhere! Schoolhouse Rock Live! follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as “Just A Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly,” "Interplanet Janet," and “Conjunction Junction.” Schoolhouse Rock Live! brings its infectious zest to a cross-generational audience: entrancing those who will be hearing it for the first time while taking the rest on a nostalgic walk down memory lane.

Schoolhouse Rock Live Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI, 421 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019; Tel.: (212) 541-4684 Fax: (212) 397-4684 www.MTIShows.com

CHOIR GIRLS: ON THE ROAD

Music and Lyrics by Dr. Jason Heald

Directed by Troy Pennington

UCC Campus, Centerstage Theatre

Your favorite Choir Girls are back and this time they are taking their act on the road! Join Natalie, Susan, Michelle, and Rebecca as they arrive in Eastern Oregon, where they've been invited to perform their...unique renditions of some old school favorite songs. Did we mention they'll be performing at a funeral? Staying the night in a weird hotel being managed by an even weirder front desk agent, the girls rehearse in their room and naturally wander off track by discussing everything from death to...flatulence. This is one trip you'll be glad you took!

Ticket Pricing: Free for all ages!

Chairs provided.
