UCC holds first triathlon to raise funds for athletics department

Winchester -- Umpqua Community College will hold their first “Run, Pedal, Pool for Athletics” event on Sunday, June 14, starting at 9 a.m. The mini-sprint triathlon consists of a 20 K bike loop (12.4 miles); a 1 K pool swim (668 yards); and a 5 K run (3.1 miles).

The cost to register is $25 for an individual or $60 for a team of three. There are six age bracket categories: 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over. All proceeds go to UCC Athletics.

There will be a pre-race barbecue on Saturday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at the Swanson Amphitheatre on the UCC campus. Tri-tip, pasta and beans are on the menu with a cost of $10 per person.
