Tutoring volunteers needed for adult, GED students

Roseburg -- Umpqua Community College’s Adult Basic Skills Department at The Woolley Center is looking for volunteer tutors to work with Adult High School and GED students on math, writing, reading as well as English as a Second Language.

Qualities essential for a good tutor are patience, discretion, flexibility, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to respond to the changing needs of the student and an open, friendly manner. No prior teaching experience is necessary. Training will be provided. Tutors work directly with students to help them reach their educational goals.

Please join us for one of our information orientations at the UCC-Woolley Adult Basic Education Center, 1634 W. Harvard Avenue. Information orientations will be held Thursday, April 16 from 7-8 p.m.; Tuesday, April 21 from 4-5 p.m.; and Thursday, April 23 from 7-8 p.m. Training will follow, schedule to be announced.
