Umpqua Community College’s community education department is hosting an eight-hour workshop on motivational interviewing. Kathlynn Northrup-Snyder, CNS, MSN, RN will be presenting the workshop, “An introduction to motivational interviewing: behavior and change,” on Friday, April 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Centerstage Theatre in the Whipple Fine Arts Center. Registration is $69 in advance (includes lunch), $79 at the door, and $89 for Washington State Nurses Association contact hours. Advance registration is encouraged.
This workshop will benefit professionals such as counselors, nurses, educators, social workers, etc., who work in fields that encourage behavioral change. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a process of behavior change and communication style that increases collaboration with clients to encourage successful movement toward change. Northrup-Snyder is the owner/consultant of Community Health Concepts and faculty at Oregon Health Sciences University School of Nursing.
