Engineering and Drafting Technician
Program Description
One-Year Completion Certificate
Engineering and drafting technicians work with and provide technical support to licensed engineers and surveyors. Technicians prepare design drawings and assist with field work.
The coursework for the one-year certificate includes five computer-aided-design courses using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and SolidWorks software; beginning GIS course; introductory surveying class; introductory engineering courses; basic spreadsheets for engineering applications; basic writing courses; and math through trigonometry.
Degrees and Certificates
A completion certificate is awarded once all required courses, electives and general education requirements are successfully completed. The curriculum also encompasses the courses required for pathways certificates in drafting, surveying, and water quality pathways certificates.
The required courses in this program are included in the AAS Civil Engineering and Surveying Technology degree, so any student who wishes may continue in the two-year AAS program.
The one-year complete certificate can also serve as a pre-engineering program, for the students that may want to continue in the Engineering Transfer program.
