Education Support Specialist (WCJC)

Responsible to: Director of Adult Basic Skills Development

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Compiles and tracks time sheets, orders supplies, and assists with reading transcripts and tracking grades. Administers TABE and CASAS tests. Maintains and organizes student files.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Compile monthly time, mileage, and expense sheets, keep Driver’s Education license and permit data, and maintain other documents necessary for WCJC billing, UCC payroll, DOL reviews, purchasing, etc.
  • Facilitate Education Department and Education staff compliance with Job Corps safety and facilities maintenance requirements. This may include revising and distributing the Education “J” (Job) list and completing Education Safety Inspections.
  • Enter and maintain information in the Adult High School Diploma database and keep student files organized.
  • Assist with reading high school transcripts, updating grades at the end of a term, recommending classes for students, registering students, and tracking transcript information.
  • Works with Novel Stars Coordinator, ABSD Director and WCJC Education Secretary to ensure students are registered correctly and paperwork is completed.
  • Process new library materials and oversee use of library resources.
  • Order supplies through the Division secretary, schedule maintenance for the photocopier, ensure messages reach Education staff, fill out purchase orders, and perform other support functions as necessary.
  • Complete CASAS and TABE assessment trainings and administer the appropriate tests as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of ABSD.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Organization or office management experience required.
  • Excellent computer skills required (MS Word, Excel, email, Internet, etc.)
  • Associates degree preferred

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Computer literate
  • Must possess good organizational, math, and paperwork management skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with UCC and Job Corps staff through written and oral communication.
  • Must be self-directed and work independently.
  • Ability to work with alternative education students.

    SALARY: $11.05 per/hr DOQ, 19 hrs per week, Part-Time Classified Salary Schedule, Level 18.
