After graduating with a BSEET from DeVry University, I began my career in the field of electronics. I worked on the maintenance enterprise computer systems and the design of industrial control systems but eventually I found my way to Yamaha Corporation of America. At Yamaha, I started off as an Applications Specialist, helping clients understand electronic music technology. Soon, I found a passion for technical writing and moved into a position at Yamaha as a Product Information Associate, creating technical notes for an online knowledgebase. This is where my introduction to HTML, CSS and graphics started because it was only a natural progression to make the technical notes web-ready - supplementing the plain text with graphics and web code. My quest to expand from text to interactive materials led me to Flash technology. Having a technical background, Flash technology became my speciality and I created many interactive product tours for Yamaha Electronic Musical Keyboards. The product information group gained fame as a top-notch web design provider within the company. So, my department was given the charge of redesigning www.yamaha.com and we merged with Creative Services, the print services group of the company. After a successful redesign, the Music Marketing Group was formed which included my department - Creative Services. Over the next five years, this exposed me to the world of Marketing & Advertising and I was able to work on some cutting-edge projects in podcasting, interactive e-magazines, web analytics, Internet video distribution & applications, and e-learning.
Since 2009, I have successfully owned and operated Lightbarer Web Solutions. It has served clients from around the globe including: Aberfoyle Park, Australia, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Baton Rouge. Lightbarer Web Solutions has serviced many multi-million dollar enterprises such as Competition Werkes in Sutherlin, Oregon; Melrose Vineyards in Roseburg, Oregon; and Performance Contractors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Since 2013, I have had the opportunity to work full-time for Umpqua Community College and I have put my expertise to work by successfully completing a redesign of www.umpqua.edu. After the redesign, I was moved to the Community Relations Department were my goal has been to help develop Digital Marketing and Social Media for the College. One sample project involved creating a Campus Video to help introduce students to the College. Another project involved designing and developing a website for a new product launch - the Retail Management Certificate (RMC project). This required developing an inviting, streamline website and a quick and easy-to-use online application system.
