Umpqua Community College will host two orientation sessions in September for those adults who want to work towards completing their GED in 2014-15. Orientations are free and required for all new GED students. Please call the Woolley Center at (541) 440-4603 to register for your orientation dates. Pre-registration is required.

Students unsure about the GED can attend the first hour of either orientation session to get an overview of the program and the classes involved. Those who complete the full orientation will set life and learning goals, learn about program options, and will take placement tests to assess skill levels.
“Having a GED can open a lot of doors,” explained April Hamlin, director of adult basic skills development at UCC. “A GED is very often required for a number of jobs, as well as for job training and apprenticeship programs and college-level classes. It’s a great first step for a lot of people wanting to make big life changes.”
Fall term GED classes start September 29. Classes are offered in Roseburg and at several locations in Douglas County. Cost is typically $42 (including fees) per term. The number of terms needed depends on each individual.
