Outside Agency Scholarships

The following outside agency scholarships will be offered to Umpqua Community College students for the 2013/2014 academic year. Specialized applications are available in the UCC Scholarship Office or on the websites that are provided. The UCC Application for outside agency scholarships is available on the UCC website or in the UCC Scholarship office. All completed applications for outside agencies must be returned to the address provided on the application and the UCC Application must be returned to the UCC Scholarship Office by their corresponding deadlines. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
NOTE: Unofficial grade transcripts for all college-level classes taken thus far must be attached to each scholarship application. High school graduates within the last four years are required to attach high school grade transcripts to each scholarship application.

Oregon BPW Scholarship Amounts Vary Deadlines: see below
Enables deserving women to acquire the education necessary for business and professional careers.
Application packages must be postmarked by:
- January 15th for Spring Term
- April 15th for Summer and Fall terms
- September 15th for Winter term
Applications must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible. Applicants must be:
- U.S. citizens.
- Officially accepted into a program of study at an accredited U. S. Institution.
- Receiving a degree or certificate at the conclusion of their studies.
- Acquiring marketable skills that will increase their economic security.
- Entering the work force after they receive their degree or certificate.
- Full time students at an accredited U. S. Institution. Part time students (must be enrolled the equivalency minimum of 6 quarter hours) may be eligible for the scholarship if they have completed at least 45 hours in their defined program of study at an accredited U. S. Institution.
Applicants who do not meet the above criteria will not be considered.
BPW scholarships do not cover study at the doctoral level or correspondence courses.
Scholarships are awarded for a one year period to cover tuition, fees, and other related expenses such as books. Scholarships cannot be used for expenses incurred before the one year period covered by the application.

American Assoc. of University Women Amount: $500 Deadline: May 1, 2013

This scholarship was established to help women students in their 2nd year of college pay for their educational expenses.
Candidates must be attending UCC full time, have an accumulated GPA of 3.0, be female and attending their 2nd year of college.

American Business Women's Assoc. Amount: $850 Deadline: Jan. 31, 2013
This ABWA scholarship is established to promote the independence and self-sufficiency of women in Douglas County. It supports courses of study, which prmote this same goal, either for the whole of society or one woman at a time.
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be attending UCC full-time for the scholarship period.
- Have earned 12 credits or more at an accredited institution of post-secondary education with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Have an annual income insufficient to pay both for college and meet living/family obligations.

AES Engineering Scholarship Amount: $500 Deadline: Oct. 4, 2013
Offers assistance to motivated students to help further their education. Awards are based on character and are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
To apply, submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question:

Irene Murphy Scholarship Amount: $5,000 Deadline: March 8, 2013
Offered by Cascade Community Credit Union to assist members with their educational expenses.
- Graduating high school applicants must have accumulated a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
- College applicants must have accumulated a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
- College students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25.
- An official college transcript verifying GPA must be provided before payments will be made the 2nd - 4th years.

Leslie S. Parker Memorial Scholarship Amounts Vary Deadline: Apr. 30, 2013
Scholarships are awarded to worthy female students who have completed at least two years of satisfactory college work and are residents of Oregon. Students enrolled in Graduate Programs of Study are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Candidates must be recommended by at least two (2) administrators or professors familiar with her: Dean of School, Professor of student's major department, Dean of Women, and in the case of transfer for graduate studies, student's advisor recommendation from the last institution attended.
- Candidates must write a PERSONAL LETTER to accompany the application packet, addressed to the Chairperson of the Leslie S. Parker Committee.
- All applications together with the full academic record and required recommendations must be received by the Chairperson of the Leslie S. Parket Memorial Scholarship Committee no later than April 30, 2013.

Oregon PTA's Teacher Education Scholarship Amount: $500 Deadline: Mar. 30, 2013
This scholarshiop is for Oregon residents studying for a teaching degree at an Oregon public university or college. Oregon community college that transfer credit in education to an Oregon four-year public institution also qualify.
Applicants must:
- Be an Oregon resident.
- Be attending an Oregon public college or university that trains teachers or transfers education credits.
- Major in education with the goal of becoming a primary or secondary teacher at an Oregon school.
Applications and supporting documents must be received by Oregon PTA no later than March 30, 2013.

Udall Scholarship Amount varies; up to $5,000 Deadline: February 8, 2013
Recognizes students committed to the environment and pursuing careers where they will be able to impact environmental issues;
Recognizes Native American and Alaska Native students pursuing careers related to tribal public policy or Native health care and committed to improving conditions for members of their tribal community or Native Americans in general.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be current college sophomores and juniors committed to careers related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native health care (applicants in the tribal public policy or Native health care categories must also be Native American or Alaska Native);
- Applicants must plan on full-time study during the 2013-2014 academic year;
- Have a grade point average equivalent to a “B”;
- Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or U.S. permanent resident.
