Workforce Training Testimonials

• Umpqua Community College and Umpqua Training & Employment, Inc. have been community partners for more than 35 years. Together we have developed many training opportunities for Dislocated Workers, Adult learners and Youth. Currently we are collaborating on the Green Technology Certificate program. A 1 year (online) certificate designed to prepare workers for occupations across a variety of diverse industries, such as green energy production, equipment manufacturing ( solar panel, wind turbine, and wave energy) monitoring and repair, etc. Four cohorts totaling twenty-eight students are expected to enroll in the program.  Direct placement services including a number of On-the-Job trainings will be offered to students completing the program.

• We also joined forces and developed a 6 week course designed to help youth (age 14 -15) investigate careers. Youth had an opportunity to explore a minimum 4 career paths during the summer.  Vocational field trips, team projects and group presentations were part of the experience. The summer program allowed close to 60 kids from all over Douglas County an opportunity to be on a college campus and to explore numerous occupations and careers.
